How We Work Together.

Ending family homelessness in Olmsted County takes a coordinated system, and Family Promise Rochester is one piece of it.

If you're a case manager, school liaison, healthcare worker, or fellow nonprofit, this page is the short version of how our programs fit alongside yours — and how to connect a family to us without anyone falling through the gap between our two organizations.

Who We Serve

Every Family Promise program serves the same family unit: at least one adult and at least one child under 18, living in Olmsted County. What changes from program to program is where a family is in a housing crisis.

Where We Fit

Still in their home, at risk...

Lost their housing, or about to

Back in housing

Eviction Prevention

Back rent, utilities, and landlord mediation to keep a family housed where they are.

Shelter Diversion

An individualized path that keeps a family out of shelter — deposits, a new place, creative solutions.

Stabilization

Ongoing case management so getting housed turns to staying housed.

Promise House

Our 13-family shelter for families with nowhere else to go. Often a waitlist, but never a dead end.

How We Coordinate

Warm Handoffs, Both Directions

Tell us what you've already done and we'll do the same. No family re-tells their story at every desk.

Who Your Family Will Work With

A Family Housing Specialist for prevention, diversion, and stabilization; Family Advocates on-site at Promise House around the clock.

Here on your own?

You don't need a whole organization to make a difference. You can volunteer, give, shop our wish list, or send encouragement to Promise House families.
