Promise House

Our family shelter — and the only one of its kind in Olmsted County.

 

When a family with children has nowhere else to go, Promise House offers a safe, warm place to land. It's a home base where parents can catch their breath, kids can keep going to school, and families can work toward what comes next.

What Makes Promise House Different

Promise House isn't an institution. It's a home.

​

Families have their own private rooms, share welcoming common spaces, and live in community with other families going through something similar. During their stay, each family works one-on-one with a Family Housing Specialist to build a plan for stable housing — and receives the support they need to get there.

Who We Serve

Families with at least one adult and one child under 18, facing homelessness in our community.

How Families Come to Us

Promise House serves a small number of families at a time, so there's often a waitlist to stay with us. But reaching out to Family Promise Rochester is never a dead end.

 

When a family contacts us, we listen to what's going on and get to work. While a family waits for a room to open, our team partners with them to explore every path forward — whether that's help staying in their current home, finding a new one, connecting with other resources, or planning their next step. And when a family is truly unsheltered with nowhere safe to go tonight, we work with our partners across the community to make sure they have somewhere to sleep.

 

No family who calls us walks away without support.
