Families across Southeast Minnesota are facing sudden disruption that can quickly put their housing at risk. Missed work, lost income, and fear around daily routines can turn into a housing crisis almost overnight—especially for families already living paycheck to paycheck.
The Hope at Home Fund was created by Family Promise Rochester along with community partners to respond to this moment with speed, care, and compassion.
Helping families stay housed. Supporting children. Strengthening our community.
The Hope at Home Fund is a targeted housing stability fund for families and households with children in Southeast Minnesota. Through short-term rental assistance, limited utility support, landlord mediation, and stabilization services, Family Promise works to prevent eviction before it becomes homelessness.
This fund builds on Family Promise’s core eviction prevention and stabilization programs. What’s different is speed and flexibility—allowing us to act quickly, protect family privacy, and intervene early when timing matters most.
Preventing eviction helps children stay connected to school, supports parents’ ability to work, and strengthens families and communities.
A Collaborative Community Effort
The Hope at Home Fund is powered by community.
This work is made possible through partnership with faith communities, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community care networks who believe that stable housing is essential to family well-being.
No single organization can do this alone—but together, we can help families weather difficult moments and remain rooted in their homes and communities.

Why This Fund Matters Right Now
In recent weeks, we have seen increased fear and disruption affecting daily life for families in our communities. Parents are missing work out of concern for their safety. Some families are avoiding routine activities—work, school, appointments—not because they want to, but because they are afraid. For families already living paycheck to paycheck, even a short disruption can quickly lead to missed rent and the threat of eviction.
For these families, rent is the pressure point.
Most of the families reaching out are not facing long-term financial instability. They are facing a short, intense moment of disruption. A missed week or two of income can mean falling behind on rent, triggering eviction notices that move quickly and leave families with very few options.
This is why Family Promise Rochester has launched the Hope at Home Fund.
The Hope at Home Fund allows us to respond quickly and sensitively before a temporary disruption becomes homelessness. These early, flexible supports are one of the most effective and cost-efficient ways to protect families and reduce long-term harm.
